This week, second shift’s quality inspector, Mike Smith, joins the coveted 20 Year Club, of which he’s the 25th person to achieve that milestone.
Mike started working here on November 13, 1992. His first job before working here was as a maintenance man for 3 years a real estate company in Buffalo.
Upon coming to CPI, he worked in the secondaries department where he spent about two-thirds of his career. He got his start packing ladders and working on voting machines.
Through the years he has been the assistant and the manager of the secondaries department, third shift foreman, and quality inspector, which he is now, utilizing his 20 years of knowledge of our products and our customers’ expectations.
How long ago was 1992? Well, a few of the guys in the plant weren’t even born yet. Of those who were, see if you remember these events from November of that year….
Bill Clinton won the presidential election over the first George Bush
Riddick Bowe beat Evander Holyfield to win the heavyweight title
The Rifleman – Chuck Connors – died at 71
The Dow Jones was at 3,200
Gas was $1.05 a gallon nationally
