BLAST FROM THE PAST: THE LEG LOVER

Every once in a while we like to reflect on this blog about interesting items that we've manufactured over our 37 years of business.

Long-time Western New York residents may remember a Confer Plastics experiment of the late 1970s….the Leg Lover.

The Leg Lover was produced by CPI from 1977 to 1979 and sold through a Williamsville, NY company called Reclinet-te that was owned by Tom Gosch, Jack Gatke, and Confer Plastics founder Ray Confer.

The company – and the product – did not last too long as the marketing efforts were limited to the Buffalo-Niagara region. Commercials for the Leg Lover ran on TV channel 29 (WUTV).

This product could be used in any number of ways. It could prop up your legs when reclining in a chair. It could be used as a inclined back support when in bed or on the beach. You could even use it as a dinner "table" when eating in front of the TV. The possibilities were endless.

Confer Plastics, Inc. vice-president Bob Confer will be speaking to the organization at their monthly meeting to be held on Monday, August 23rd at 7:00 at the Wheatfield Community Center at 2790 Church Road, North Tonawanda. Bob will talk about government policy that inhibits business growth in New York State.

NO PARKING FOR THUNDER ON NIAGARA

As much as we'd like to be a good neighbor, parking in the Confer Plastics lot is not allowed for this weekend's Thunder On Niagara jet boat race at the adjoining Gratwick Park. Our lot is closed to those who do not work here due to liability and risk and production taking place this weekend.
